Roubo Orangery Box in 80x109 cm and 59x82 cm, faithfully reproducing original design

The Roubo Orangery Box

The “Roubo” is typically offered in 80 × 109 cm or 59 × 82 cm. We have reproduced the exact description (text and illustrations) of an orangery box designed by André-Jacob Roubo, strictly respecting his proportions. The locking of removable walls is identical to the original.

ROUBO, a reference in woodworking

It faithfully reproduces the sketches of André-Jacob Roubo, French cabinetmaker and woodworker born and died in Paris (1739–1791). He is the author of the famous L’Art du menuisier, a reference work on 18th-century woodworking.

Coming from a family of respected woodworkers, he became a pupil of the architect Jean-François Blondel.

He wrote a comprehensive treatise on woodworking: L’Art du menuisier, published between 1769 and 1782.

L'Art du menuisier

The work spans over 1,340 pages, illustrated with 389 engraved plates by the author.

“The Roubo” is considered the finest treatise on traditional woodworking. It develops and discusses in detail the technical knowledge of woodworking trades, which, under Louis XV, reached its golden age.
